MANISTIQUE, Mich., April 17, 2020 – mBank, in conjunction with Lake Effect Community Arts, is pleased to announce the official donation of the Creighton Building in Downtown Manistique. mBank acquired the building last year and Lake Effect Arts plans on rehabilitating the property into a new home for community artists. The new center will encourage and nurture an appreciation for and participation in the arts, by sponsoring and providing classes, workshops, exhibits, public performances, and other such services and programs to make the arts more accessible to everyone in Schoolcraft County and the surrounding areas.
“Lake Effect Community Arts is so grateful and ecstatic that the building is official ours,” said Teresa Bratton, Lake Effect Community Arts Board President. “This building will definitely have a positive impact on our organization’s mission. We are so excited to continue to move forward with our plans in creating a new community gathering center for the arts in our community.”
“We are proud and very encouraged in what Lake Effect Community Arts is doing for our community,” explained Kelly W. George, mBank President and CEO. “Rehabilitating this historic building for the betterment of all will be a driving cultural and economic catalyst for the revitalization of our downtown and county in total. The new Arts and Cultural Center should help enrich the lives of many for generations to come.”
Lake Effect Community Arts plans on securing grant funding and launching a capital campaign later this year as part of the rehabilitation project. For more information or to donate to Lake Effect Arts, please visit http://www.lakeeffectarts.org/.
