Paul D. Tobias

Mr. Tobias has nearly 42 years of experience in the financial services and banking industries. He was appointed as Chairman of mBank and Chairman & CEO of Mackinac Financial Corporation in December, 2004 after structuring and leading the successful $30 million recapitalization of the company when it was known as North Country Bank and Trust. He also served as CEO of mBank from July 2005 until November 2006. Previously, he was a co-founding partner of Mackinac Partners, LLC, an unrelated financial and operational advisory company. He also served as CEO of Munder Capital Management, Executive Vice President of Comerica Incorporated where he was the head of Mergers and Acquisitions and Corporate Strategy and as an Investment Banker at McDonald & Company. He is a cum laude graduate of Albion College and earned an MBA with distinction from the University of Michigan. Mr. Tobias is also Chairman of the Elcot Fund based in London, England.
Kelly W. George
President, Mackinac Financial Corporation
President & Chief Executive Officer, mBank | Manistique
Mr. George has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry. He joined mBank in 2003 as the Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer to lead the regulatory, risk management and lending administration turnaround of the previously known North Country Bank and Trust. After the successful rehabilitation of the bank and $30 million recapitalization, he was promoted to President & CEO of mBank and President of Mackinac Financial Corporation in 2006. Prior to mBank, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at the Commercial and Savings Bank in Millersburg Ohio, also leading the credit administration and risk management turnaround of a regulatory challenged bank from 2000 to 2003. He spent several years prior as a Safety and Soundness Examiner-in-Charge at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland responsible for the oversight of FRB regulated community bank institutions with assets up to $5 billion. He began his career in various retail banking, credit, and commercial lending roles at the former Bank One and National City Bank in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. George is a 1990 graduate of The Ohio State University with a BS in Economics and Minor in Finance.
Jesse A. Deering

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, mBank | Birmingham
Mr. Deering joined mBank in 2005 and has over 14 years of banking experience. He was promoted to Executive Vice President & CFO of mBank and its holding company, Mackinac Financial Corporation in August of 2016. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Retail Branch Banking, Marketing & Special Projects where he had direct oversight of mBank’s retail branch banking and marketing departments as well as special corporate finance projects and strategic planning. Prior to this role, from 2009 through 2012 he was in charge of all banking related activities in the Southeast Michigan region as the Senior Vice President & Southeast Michigan Executive which included oversight of the regional loan portfolio and overall operations of the region. He has also worked closely with the mBank credit department serving as Assistant Vice President / Senior Credit Administrator in 2008. Deering began his career at West Shore Bank (Ludington, Michigan) as a consumer and commercial lender. He holds an undergraduate degree from Albion College and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
Tammy R. McDowell
Executive Vice President & Managing Director of Credit Administration/Operations/IT | Manistique
Ms. McDowell has been in banking for over 30 years and has served as mBank’s Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer since 2011. Prior to that she served as the company’s Senior Vice President/ Senior Credit & Operations Officer for approximately 5 years. In 2003, as part of the North Country Bank turnaround team, McDowell led the implementation of new loan policies and various credit related operations including safety and soundness and regulatory compliance initiatives. Previously, McDowell had a successful career at Commercial and Savings Bank in Millersburg, Ohio where she was the Vice President/Credit Administrator and oversaw all credit and loan operations. She is loan review certified from BAI and has successfully completed numerous bank-specific courses in the areas of credit and operational administration.
Joanna B. Slaght
Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Administration and Regulatory Compliance Risk | Manistique
Mrs. Slaght has over 25 years of experience in the banking industry. She joined the bank in 1995. During this time, she has served mBank in several key senior management positions, including Senior Vice President Compliance Officer/Risk Manager as well as direct supervision of mortgage underwriting and other administrative departments. In her current role as Executive Vice President Managing Director of Administration and Regulatory Compliance Risk, she oversees all regulatory compliance as well as the marketing and human resource divisions of the bank. Prior to mBank, Slaght was the Loan Servicing Manager at State Bank of the Lakes (Antioch, Illinois). She is a graduate of Marquette University and holds a BS in Business Administration with Finance Specialization.
Clay V. Peterson
Executive Vice President, Western U.P. & Wisconsin Market Executive and Managing Director of Retail Banking | Escanaba
Mr. Peterson’s career includes over 15 years of experience in the banking industry, now serving as Executive Vice President Western UP & Wisconsin Market Executive and Managing Director of Retail Banking. This position oversees all commercial banking in the Western UP and Northern Wisconsin as well as all mortgage & consumer lending and branch operations in all mBank locations. He began his career at mBank in 1999, then named North Country Bank & Trust. Since then, he served at Wells Fargo as Vice President & Senior Business Relationship Manager as well as Vice President at Northern Michigan Bank & Trust. Mr. Peterson is an alumnus of Bay College, Northern Michigan University, and the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking.
Regional President, Northern Lower Michigan | Traverse City
An experienced commercial banker with over 27 years of experience, Mr. Sabatine serves as Regional President of the Northern Lower Michigan Region of mBank. He is responsible for all commercial banking and loan operations in his region. In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, he participates in numerous management initiatives within the bank. Prior to mBank, Sabatine spent over 10 years with Republic Bank (Traverse City, Michigan) in commercial lending. He is a graduate of Lake Superior State University in addition to many banking-related educational courses.
Senior Vice President, Human Resources Director | Manistique
Mrs. Bolda has 20 years of experience in the banking industry with 27 plus years in management roles with extensive professional training in many aspects of human resource management. She held various positions within mBank before moving into the human resources department. As Senior Vice President/ Director of Human Resources, she is responsible for managing the Human Resources function at mBank including bank-wide policies, procedures, and various programs to support over-all company objectives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resource Management, as well as, an MBA in Human Resource Management from American Intercontinental University (AIU).
Senior Vice President, Director of Information Technology / Communications / Facilities Maintenance | Manistique
With more than 30 years of experience in Electronic Systems and Information Technology, Mr. Hoar is responsible for the design, operation and maintenance of all voice, video and data systems at mBank. Previously, he was the Chief Information Officer at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital (Manistique, Michigan) for 7 years. He has also held field service and network systems support positions. He is a Gulf War veteran having served 9 years in the US Navy as both a support technician and instructor for guided missile systems. He has several technical certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA. He also has degrees in Electronics and Information Technology Management.

Mr. Martysz has been in the banking industry for over 19 years. He serves as Senior Vice President/Senior Commercial Banking Officer for mBank, overseeing the area’s commercial lending portfolio and new business generation. Prior to mBank, he spent nearly 7 years at Wells Fargo (Marquette, Michigan and Green Bay, Wisconsin) in the home mortgage and commercial lending divisions. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
Senior Vice President, Marquette County Executive / Eastern U.P. Commercial Lending Manager | Manistique
Mr. Schuetter has over 12 years banking experience. As Senior Vice President, Marquette County Executive / Eastern U.P. Commercial Lending Manager, Schuetter leads the commercial banking team in Michigan’s Marquette area and the Eastern U.P. He is responsible for all commercial banking activities in these markets including customer relationship management. He joined mBank in 2005. Schuetter is a graduate of Ferris State University and the Perry School of Banking.

Mrs. Stempki has been with mBank since 2003. As Senior Vice President/Controller, she is involved in the financial administration and reporting for both mBank and our holding company, Mackinac Financial Corporation. She has helped implement numerous accounting and finance procedures to ensure the department remains efficient and consistent with the overall direction of mBank. She graduated summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University with a BS degree in Accounting.
Senior Vice President, Senior Credit Administrator, Risk Analyst | Manistique
Mr. Flodin has been in banking for over 10 years. He began his banking career as a Commercial Loan Officer and was promoted to Senior Vice President/Senior Credit Administrator. In his role, Flodin leads the Central Credit Department and several other key operational areas. He oversees and actively reviews loan portfolios to help identify and control risk factors. He is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a BS degree in Accounting.
Senior Vice President, Branch Administration & Sales Officer | Eagle River
Mr. McCormick has over 23 years of experience in the banking industry, with 18 of those years being in Management and Senior Management positions. In his role as Senior Vice President/ Branch Administration & Sales Officer, Mr. McCormick oversees the sales growth and administration procedures in all mBank Branch locations. He is a graduate of Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College with an associate degree in marketing.
Senior Vice President, Bank Administration, Training and Development Manager | Manistique
Mrs. Arnold has been with mBank since 2016 and is involved with effectively training and developing the mBank employee base and monitoring significant risk and performance metrics to corporate objectives in an effort to maximize shareholder value. Prior to mBank, she spent 20 years in various Senior Administrative and risk management / governance roles, as well as serving as the interim CEO for an Upper Peninsula hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Lake Superior State University and an Associate degree in Healthcare Risk Management and Quality Review from Michigan Hospital Association and Lansing Community College.
