‘Up North’ (as many city dwellers from "downstate" and nearby areas have rightfully nicknamed the Northern Lower Peninsula) has become a get-a-way for summer vacation homes with many finding the less stressful lifestyle conducive to full-time living. This area is home to several small- to medium-sized cities, extensive state and national forests, lakes and rivers, and a large portion of Great Lakes shoreline. Hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling with hundreds of miles of interconnected groomed trails across the region are just a few of the outdoor activities that thrive in the ‘up north’ area.
